GOD FORBID Schedules One-Off Headlining Show On Long Island
April 19, 2010New Jersey metal titans GOD FORBID has scheduled a one-off headlining gig at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, New York on Saturday, May 22.
GOD FORBID's first appearance on Long Island in two years will be a makeup show since the band had to cancel its concert in January with LIFE OF AGONY at the same venue.
Be sure to come out to this exclusive live appearance as GOD FORBID will take some time off from touring to work on a new album.
GOD FORBID recently parted ways with longtime record company Century Media and is currently seeking a new label home.
Regarding the upcoming CD's musical direction, guitarist Doc Coyle recently stated, "It's always difficult to tell how a new album will sound this early in the process, but I can say that our new guitar player Matt Wicklund [ex-HIMSA] is contributing tons of material. His stuff is very hook-oriented with a Scandinavian twinge.
"The stuff I've been writing has been varied from evil MORBID ANGEL, black metal shit to mid-tempo/power groove MACHINE HEAD-type stuff, and signature GOD FORBID material that is a logical progression from our previous albums."
Evil G. of BareBonesMusic.com recently conducted an interview with Doc Coyle. During the chat, Doc discusses how former HIMSA guitarist Matt Wicklund has integrated into the band as a permanent member, the style he brings to the band and how it's rejuvenated Doc's desire to write and record new material, plus the changes Matt's style will bring to new GOD FORBID music. Doc also talks about the success (or lack thereof) of GOD FORBID based on the strengths and critical acclaim of the band's latest album, "Earthsblood", plus having a dedicated and passionate fan base and how to make it continue to grow. Watch the interview below.
GOD FORBID's last album, "Earthsblood", sold around 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to land at position No. 110 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD debuted at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
GOD FORBID's previous album, "IV: Constitution of Treason", entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 119 in September 2005 after shifting 8,300 units.
